What I do know about COVID-19 response…
Living in Toronto, Ontario, Canada one thing is clear, the government at all levels is doing a really decent job helping its citizens through this time.
Not only financially, I think the government is communicating effectively and although uncertain about certain decisions they need to make, it is clear about the uncertainty. Yet, they put their faith in it people to work through the decisions. What I specifically mean is that initially Ontario set a date to begin reopening the economy and helping people get back to ‘normal’. Unfortunately that date has changed, due to the fact that “flattening the curve” seems to be working, and there is fear of a second wave of very sick virus patients. Given that uncertainty, the government has made it relatively clear that things will be slower to return to normal, and that the ‘roll out’ of return to normalcy will be implemented in tranches such that, if a new wave of sick patients becomes apparent, they can roll back the return…
While this is disheartening and frightening for many, this seems to be a very logical and thoughtful approach. Because it empowers the citizens to plan and take control...
